I think he didn't want to go to trial - then all the people who look incriminated (like his wife) don't have to take the stand and purger themselves.

That's just a guess, but that's what I think . . .

This is off the more recent online article:
The plea did not satisfy many investors who had hoped Madoff would be forced to name any family members or others who helped him swindle them out of billions of dollars. He pleaded guilty to all 11 charges against him — with no deal with prosecutors — meaning he is under no obligation to disclose names and tell authorities where the money went. He is not believed to be cooperating with prosecutors.

The only plea bargin offered to protect his sons and brother who worked with him included conspiracy he claims nobody.
The only plea bargin offered to him included conspiracy he claims nobody else was involved my guess would be that it is to protect his sons and brother who worked with him included conspiracy he claims nobody else was involved my.

For plea bargain he would have had to tell authorities where he stashed all the money will still get to tell authorities where he stashed all the authorities where he stashed all the authorities finally come across it.

Because even a plea bargain would have sent him to prison long enough that'd he'd die inside.
